The controversial and way over-budget Hinkley Point C Nuclear Plant is presently under construction in Somerset. To satisfy an EU Directive by which member states must engage in public consultation with neighbouring member states regarding projects likely to have significant effects on the environment of those states Ireland has recently received information from Britain’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (DBEIS). Anyone with queries, comments or concerns may contact DBEIS.
Why is DBEIS looking for our opinion at this late stage when the project is already well underway? They are ticking a box. Full stop. And it appears that the EU is merely box ticking as well.
